Jeffrey Dahmer born Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (May 21, 1960 – November 28, 1994), also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was an American serial killer and sex offender who committed the murder and dismemberment of seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991. Jeffrey Dahmer (JC) | If you have yet to watch the Netflix hit limited séries Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story then watch it, or don’t. Dahmer is acted by Evan Peter’s.
The Netflix séries came out in 2022 and contains ten episodes. The first scene tells the tale Dahmer’s last victim.
He was able to escape, ran for his life screaming for help, stumbled upon two police officers while wearing handcuffs. He then told the officers what happened and then drove back to Dahmer’s apartment. They asked questions, looked around. One of the officer went into the room as they were looking for the key to the handcuffs. Jeffrey told him they were i’and the room. In the drawer, the office found pictures of Dahmer’s victims. Their limbs and lifeless bodies was what he saw. Dahmer was arrested and that was the end of the serial killings.
One thing the series doesn’t make clear is the rapes and the cannibalism. As in, the show isn’t graphic enough to let someone who didn’t know about Jeffrey Dahmer that he cut up his victims, raped them and/or ate them. There’s no scene of rape. We do see Dahmer hooking up with different guys but no rape.
One scene takes place in a bathhouse, Dahmer drugs a man, the scene shows them kissing then all of the sudden, we see the guy passed out on the floor. What happened aside from the obvious drugged drink?
Many of the other clips are filmed in the same manner. One minute there’s flirting, the next minute, a guy is either dead or passed out.
Aside from the scenes where, both men are seen waking up naked on a bed, which, using our imagination, let’s us know that, at some point intercourse happened, we wouldn’t know if there’s been a rape or if it was consensual.
The hotel scene : Dahmer is banned from bathhouses because he’s known to drug men. So, he takes his next date and victim to a hotel. He drugs the drink and gives it to his date. Unfortunately, he made a mistake and drugged his own drink too.
The following scenes show the men kissing and engaging in premilaries. Next scene? Two naked men on a bed. One alive, one dead! What happened? (aside from the obvious drugged drink) rape? consensual sex?
Monster : The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is just an envelop of what Dahmer did to his victims, too much is left to imagination. Only once, was he filmed in an act of cannibalism. Only later, does one realizes that, it happened more than once.
From the point of view of someone not familiar with Dahmer’s serial killing, you’d think he killed the victims, abused them, got Sexual arouses by their dead corpses and ate the organ of one of the victims.
What the show does emphasize, is Jeffrey’s turmoil and his deepest fear, being abondoned. Which is only made very clear once he meets his deaf boyfriend. Before that, one would think that, Dahmer doesn’t have friends and wants to just force people to hang out with him for a bit then gets angry when they don’t want to hang out hence the killings.
Another side of Dahmer’s story which wasn’t really clear to me is racism towards his victims. Most of his victims were “black or brown” as the show describes them. The show also implies that, Dahmer moved into a “black and brown” neighborhood on purpose. It implies that, since the police neglected the neighborhood, it was easier for Dahmer to kill and not get caught.
However, the serie doesn’t show that. It shows Dahmer having to live on his own after being kicked out of his grandmother’s house and ending up in that building because that’s all he could afford. Again, leaving everything to imagination.
Also, the racist card is hard to comprehend. At some point, Dahmer is dating a Black deaf guy!.
Dahmer as arrested, found guilty and sentence to more than 900 years in
What has been seen as racist is this clip below :
White privilège gives Dahmer freedom to go hunt for this victim’s little brother and kill him. There are other scenes where, the “protectors” of the people didn’t not take sufficient actions because Dahmer was White. Which, as we now know, led to more killings.
What did you think of the Netflix’s show about Dahmer?
